Our verdict

The R1280DB is a practical powered stereo system for buyers connecting a mixture of analog, digital and Bluetooth sources. Its broad input selection is the main attraction, but it is neither a fully wireless speaker pair nor an HDMI-equipped TV system.

What reviewers say

"The Edifier R1280DB units are large, though, so make sure you have space for them on your desk."
— PCGamesN

Pros

  • +Bluetooth, optical, coaxial and dual RCA inputs accommodate several source types.
  • +Built-in amplification avoids the need for a separate receiver or amplifier.
  • +Side-panel tone controls and an included remote make everyday adjustment straightforward.

Cons

  • −No HDMI input for a direct HDMI TV connection.
  • −Bluetooth does not eliminate the mains-power cable or the wire between speakers.
