Our verdict

The mini 12 is a sensible choice for straightforward instant snapshots, with automatic exposure and useful close-up framing aids. Its always-on flash and lack of a self-timer make it less suitable for buyers who want more control.

What reviewers say

"The Instax Mini 12 is child’s play to use, produces lovely-looking prints"
— TechRadar

Pros

  • +Automatic exposure and flash output minimize setup for casual snapshots.
  • +Close-up parallax correction and a selfie mirror help with nearby subjects.
  • +Replaceable AA batteries avoid dependence on a proprietary rechargeable battery.

Cons

  • −The always-on flash limits control over lighting.
  • −No self-timer or tripod socket for unattended group photographs.

Frequently asked

Is film included with the linked camera?

The linked B&H camera-only package lists batteries and a wrist strap, but no film. Purchase instax mini film separately.

No. B&H lists neither a self-timer nor a tripod mounting thread.
